1. About the Digital Services Act
The Digital Services Act (DSA) is a European Union regulation (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065) that establishes a comprehensive framework for digital services operating within the EU. It aims to create a safer digital space, protect fundamental rights, and establish a level playing field for businesses.
This page outlines how Textora complies with the DSA requirements and provides information about your rights as a user in the European Union.
2. Service Provider Information
In accordance with Article 12 of the DSA, we provide the following information:
Legal Name / Developer: Developer: Elxan Quliyev
Service Name: Textora
Service Type: Mobile application for AI-powered text recognition and extraction (iOS)
Country of Establishment: Azerbaijan
Contact Email: support@textora.app
Website: https://textora.app
EU Legal Representative
As Textora is operated by an individual developer outside the EU but offers services to EU users, we are in the process of designating an EU legal representative in accordance with Article 13 of the DSA. This information will be updated once the representative is appointed.
In the meantime, EU users may contact us directly at support@textora.app
3. Nature of Our Service
Textora is a text recognition application that processes images locally on your device. Understanding the nature of our service is important for DSA compliance context:
On-Device Processing
All text recognition and OCR processing happens locally on your device. Your photos and extracted text are not uploaded to our servers.
No Content Hosting
We do not host, store, or transmit user-generated content on our servers. Your scanned content remains on your device or your personal cloud storage (iCloud/Google Drive) if you opt-in.
No Content Distribution
Textora does not facilitate the sharing, publication, or distribution of content between users. It is a personal productivity tool.
Privacy-First Design
Your scanned content remains entirely under your control. We have no access to view, modify, or share your content.
Due to this architecture, Textora functions primarily as a local utility application rather than a hosting or intermediary service in the traditional sense contemplated by the DSA.
4. Content Moderation
4.1 Our Approach
Since Textora does not host or share user-generated content on our servers, traditional content moderation practices do not apply to user-scanned content. However:
- We do not access, review, or moderate the content you scan or store
- Your content remains private and under your exclusive control
- We rely on platform policies (Apple App Store) for app distribution standards
4.2 Terms of Service
Our Terms of Service outline prohibited uses of the App. While we cannot monitor on-device content, users agree not to use Textora for illegal purposes.
4.3 Illegal Content Reporting
If you become aware of any illegal use of Textora or have concerns about illegal content, you can report it to us at support@textora.app. We will review reports and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable laws.
5. Transparency
In line with DSA transparency requirements, we provide the following information:
5.1 How Our Service Works
Textora uses on-device AI and machine learning (Apple's Vision Framework on iOS) to perform optical character recognition (OCR) on images you select. The extracted text is stored locally on your device and can be organized, searched, and exported.
5.2 Algorithmic Systems
- Text Recognition AI: On-device machine learning models extract text from images. These models run locally and do not send data to external servers.
- AI Categorization: Our app may automatically categorize scanned content using on-device processing.
- No Recommender Systems: Textora does not use algorithmic recommendation systems to suggest content to users.
- No Profiling: We do not profile users or make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
5.3 Advertising
If Textora displays any advertising, it is non-personalized and not based on user profiling or tracking. We do not use personal data to target advertisements.
5.4 Terms of Service Changes
In accordance with Article 14 of the DSA, we provide clear and comprehensive information about changes to our terms of service. Users will be notified of any significant changes through the App or via email at least 15 days before the changes take effect.
6. User Rights Under DSA
As an EU user, you have the following rights under the Digital Services Act:
